Travel on the Bernina Express, the UNESCO-listed Red Train, which passes through spectacular alpine scenery, a wonderful experience for both adults and children. From there, you can choose among several hiking routes that lead to Alpe Palü Mountain Hut.
Hiking Options to Alpe Palü:

1. From Alp Grüm Station
Start your walk from Alp Grüm, easily reachable by the Red Train. A gentle 20-minute downhill path will take you straight to Lagh da Palü. Perfect for a short and scenic stroll.

2. From Cavaglia Station
The station is accessible by train or car. From there, walk through the village of Cavaglia until you reach the Repower Hydroelectric Plant. On the left, a path climbs towards Alpe Palü, taking about 40 minutes to reach the hut.
For the return, you can take an alternative route: from Alpe Palü, walk uphill towards Alp Grüm for 15 minutes until you reach a fork. Take the right-hand path downhill, which leads back to Cavaglia. This slightly longer route offers beautiful panoramic views and can also be done uphill.

3. From Ospizio Bernina
Follow the trail along Lake Bianco to the locality called “Pozzo del Drago”. From there, descend along the path on the left, passing Alp Grüm Station, then continue downhill to Alpe Palü. The walk takes approximately 2 hours.
